Data processing for guest and account users
WheelOfSpins operates primarily as a client-side utility. When using the tool as a guest, your custom wheel entries, color schemes, and spin settings remain on your local device. If you register an account, we store your email address, display name, hashed authentication credentials, and explicitly saved wheel configurations in our cloud database to enable cross-device synchronization.

Local storage and browser data behavior
We use browser localStorage and sessionStorage to retain active wheel lists, theme selections, and sound preferences between sessions. This data never touches our server unless you explicitly save a wheel to your registered account or create a public share link. You can clear this stored data at any time through your web browser settings.

Data rights, GDPR, and CCPA compliance
Users under GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA framework regulations possess rights to access, export, correct, or request deletion of personal information stored in registered accounts. Because guest wheel data resides solely on your local browser, clearing your local browsing data removes guest lists immediately. For account-bound data, submit requests via our contact page.

Classroom use and children's privacy
WheelOfSpins is widely utilized by teachers for random student selection and classroom activities. We do not collect student personal information, track individual student metrics, or require student registration. In guest mode, student name lists remain entirely within the teacher's local browser memory.

Log files and automatically collected information
Like most websites, WheelOfSpins and its hosting provider automatically record standard server log data when pages are requested. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, the pages you visit, and the date and time of each request. We use this information only to keep the site secure, diagnose errors, and understand overall usage trends. It is not used to identify individual visitors.
Cookies and similar technologies
WheelOfSpins does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you sign in, we set essential HTTP-only cookies that keep your session active and secure; they are removed when you log out. Preferences such as your theme and your most recent wheel are kept in your browser's local storage instead of cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but signing in will not work without the essential session cookies.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the site. Our hosting provider serves the pages and records the log data described above. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us to create your account. Messages sent through our contact form are delivered to us by Web3Forms, which processes your name, email address, and message for that purpose. Login and sign-up forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser for signs of automated abuse and receives technical data such as your IP address for that purpose. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them.
Advertising
WheelOfSpins does not currently show advertisements, and we do not share your information with advertising networks. If we introduce advertising in the future, we will update this policy before any ads appear, explain which partners are involved and what cookies they use, and describe how you can opt out.
Share links and public wheels
When you create a share link or make a wheel public, its title and entries are stored on our servers so that anyone with the link can open and spin it. Share links are not private, so avoid adding sensitive personal information, such as the full names of students, to wheels you share. You can make a wheel private again or delete it from your account at any time.
Data retention and security
Account information and saved wheels are kept for as long as your account remains active. When you ask us to delete your account, the associated records are permanently removed within 30 days. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to answer you. Passwords and session tokens are stored as secure hashes, and all connections to WheelOfSpins are encrypted with HTTPS. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data against unauthorized access.
Children's information
Protecting children online is important to us. WheelOfSpins does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13, and accounts are intended for adults such as teachers and parents. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an account or our contact form, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to this privacy policy
